Oorsprong/verklaring : The arms are derived from the local flag. The rainbow symbolize the day (light), the night (darrkness) and anything in between. The stars are derived from the arms of Ferwerderadeel (the municipality to which Hallum belongs) and symbolise the two former monasteries, Mariengaarde and Bartleheim, that existed in or around Hallum. The tower is a symbol for the havezathen (strong farms, small castles or manor houses), that stood in the village. Literatuur : Genealogysk Jierboek van de Fryske Rie foar Heraldiek, 1995, blz 195 |
