Nederlandse Dorpswapens

HALLUM

Provincie : Friesland
Gemeente : Ferwerderadeel

Het volgende dorpswapen is bekend :
" Van sabel, beladen met een regenboog van goud, keel, sinopel en zilver, van boven vergezeld van twee zespuntige sterren van goud en van onderen van een burcht van goud, geopend en verlicht van het veld."

Oorsprong/verklaring :
Het wapen is afgeleid van de plaatselijke vlag. De kleuren van de regenboog symboliseren het lichte (de dag), het veld het donkere (de nacht), samen alles omvattend. De sterren zijn afkomstig uit het wapen van Ferwerderadeel, maar slaan ook op twee kloosters, namelijk Mariengaarde en Bartlehiem. De burcht symboliseert de havezaten, die in de omgeving gestaan hebben.

The arms are derived from the local flag. The rainbow symbolize the day (light), the night (darrkness) and anything in between. The stars are derived from the arms of Ferwerderadeel (the municipality to which Hallum belongs) and symbolise the two former monasteries, Mariengaarde and Bartleheim, that existed in or around Hallum. The tower is a symbol for the havezathen (strong farms, small castles or manor houses), that stood in the village.
