Nederlandse Gemeentewapens BERGSCHENHOEK Provincie : Zuid Holland Opheffing : 2007 Lansingerland Toevoegingen : - I : 24 juli 1816 " Van zilver beladen met een keper en verzeld en chef van 2 achtpuntige sterren en en pointe van eene roos, alles van keel, op de punt des kepers eene halve maan van goud." NB : niet beschreven is een gouden kroon met 8 parels. Oorsprong/verklaring : English Van het wapen van Bergschenhoek zijn een aantal versies bekend. Vanouds schijnt de gelijknamige heerlijkheid gebruik gemaakt te hebben van het wapen van Hillegersberg. Bergschenhoek is pas na 1500 ontstaan door vervening van het hoogveen. In de 17e eeuw ontstond er een dorp, dat bestuurlijk onder Hillegersberg viel. In de Nederlandsche Stads- en Dorpsbeschrijver uit 1793 wordt een wapen genoemd van azuur met een dwarsbalk van zilver (of goud). Het huidige wapen werd in 1815 aangevraagd. Er werd bij vermeld dat de oorsprong niet bekend was en dat het in en kerkraam werd aangetroffen. Until the late 18th century Bergschenhoek did not have its own council, but belonged to Hillegersberg, and thus used the arms of Hillegersberg. In 1793 a coat of arms was mentioned, a blue shield with a silver (or golden) bar. The origin of these arms is not known either.
