" Een veld van zilver waarop een ruiter te paard, houdende een vaandel in de hand."

NB : een zeer summiere beschrijving. Beter zou zijn :

In zilver een omgewend stappend paard van natuurlijke kleur, gezadeld van azuur met boordsel van goud, bereden door een ruiter, met gelaat en handen van natuurlijke kleur, gekleed van purper, gelaarsd van sabel, hebbende op het hoofd een baret van sabel, waarop een veer van zilver en houdend in de rechterhand een vaandel van azuur, waarop de letters AD van sabel, alles staande op een grond van sinopel.

Oorsprong/verklaring :
Het wapen stelt een dijkwacht voor. In de vorige eeuwen kon het langs de Zuiderzee zeer gevaarlijk zijn. De dorpen rustten daarop mannen te paard uit, die de dijken in de gaten moesten houden, de dijkwachten. De letters op het vaandel geven aan dat de dijkwacht uit Andijk afkomstig is.
